23 years of painting the finest homes in the area have taught us about central Virginia's unique climate and how weather effects exterior and interior paint.

The owner, George Hughes, received his Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from VCU in 1991. Completing several renovation projects in the Fan District paved the way for George's college education, and taught him early on the difference between poor and long-lasting painting. In addition to his own personal experience, his family boasts a proud history of carpentry renovation.

These experiences, combined with a formal education in artistic painting and chemical properties of printmaking, position Hughes Painting Company as a premier painter in the area.

The most important procedure in painting is what happens before the paint is applied. Good preparation on an exterior surface will increase the longevity and extend the protection. On an interior surface, extensive preparation produces a smoother and more refined quality appearance.
